Reverse engineering at its best

After 3 years of development, Golden Age Project presents the ELA M 251E large diaphragm tube microphone, a unique replica of the important Telefunken microphone model of the same name from the 1960s. From the CK12 microphone capsule to the smallest screw and the last plastic part, the engineers at Golden Age Project have reproduced every optical, acoustic and technical detail of the original 1:1.

The CK12 capsule was developed from the GAP K251 capsule in countless listening sessions with several historic ELA M 251Es and corresponds 100% to the original CK12 in terms of frequency response and sensitivity, as it was manufactured by AKG in Vienna in the 1960s. Due to the highest modern production standards, the capsules could be tolerated to +/-0.5 dB and the front and rear of the individual capsules to +/-0.2 dB

The power supply, which is housed in a separate power supply unit, is naturally built entirely according to the specifications of the old ELA M 251E and is also fully compatible with it, both in terms of the electrical parameters and the pin assignment of the cable and the connectors.

Golden Age Project has even painstakingly reproduced the mechanical design of the directional switch and the innovative plastic container, which makes the electronics interchangeable as a whole. This ensures that the microphone behaves exactly like the original, both electronically and acoustically.
