Kraken by WMD is a digital snare Drum module with physical modelling synthesis and a huge sonic range. The basic sound is based on 32 smoothly interpolating shell models that determine the harmonics as well as three digital and analog noise variants. Thanks to the wide parameter ranges, the module surprises with snare sounds and also harsh, metallic sounds that you might not have heard often in this form. The digital sound generation is rounded off with a distortion (Wreck) that offers three modes and is a real enrichment of the sound palette. The internal decay envelope is short and long enough to adjust pretty much any snare sound you want. The many control voltage inputs, in combination with a sequencer and other modulation sources like eg. LFO or gated S&H to create exciting drum patterns. Two trigger inputs are "necessary" to unleash the full potential of Kranken, when used together they create a realistic rimshot sound.
