The Katana amplifier of the 3rd Generation offers six different amp voicings, including a new pushed mode that provides a powerful and assertive sound. Each amp voicing is equipped with a selectable sound variation, allowing for immense tonal flexibility. The Bloom switch can be used to activate an independent circuit that changes the response of the amp and opens up new dynamic sound images. The amp not only offers plenty of tonal flexibility but also comes with all the features that give every musician a big "quality-of-life" upgrade in practice sessions, in the rehearsal room and on stage.
The five independent effect sections - Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb - offer an extensive range of sound shaping options. Of particular interest is the solo section, which is equipped with an independent level booster and a delay effect. This function makes it possible to bring solos to the fore at the touch of a button and give them more presence. The 3-way Contour control allows precise control of the tone and helps to hit the preferred sound exactly. In addition, three selectable Global EQ options are available, allowing the overall sound to be adapted to different playing environments. The three cabinet resonance types - Vintage, Modern and Deep - provide even more tonal fine-tuning, each offering a different sound characteristic. With eight-tone setting preset locations, all amplifier and effect settings can be saved and quickly recalled when required. This is particularly useful for musicians who frequently need to switch between different songs and setups. Another feature of the Katana Head Gen 3 is the power reduction, which makes it possible to feel the dynamic response even at low volumes without any loss of quality. This is ideal for use in small rehearsal rooms or at home, where high volumes are not always optimal.
The redesigned Boss Tone Studio app, compatible with Windows and macOS, provides an intuitive interface for editing and managing sounds on a computer or mobile device. With this app, individual settings can be managed and saved. In addition, the Boss Tone Exchange platform enables the loading and sharing of Katana sounds, which promotes creative exchange within the musician community. Particularly pleasing is the compatibility of the new Katana amplifier with the stored sounds from the previous models of the Katana MK series. This means that owners of an MKII amp can seamlessly transfer already created and proven sounds to the new Generation .
